Roulette is a game in which there are various bets, even though the gameplay itself is simple for any player to understand. Betting on a single number on the roulette wheel is not the only thing you can do – you can place multiple other bets and receive corresponding payouts if you are playing roulette at a casino for real money.

Odd/even bets are fairly popular. You get even money payouts for each odd/even bet won in roulette, so let’s take a look at this betting option from up-close.

In case you haven’t played roulette before, you ought to familiarize yourself with the wheel and the betting table, preferably in a practice play game.

The European roulette wheel has 37 slots, 36 of them are marked with numbers from 1 to 36. The last pocket has a zero and it is colored green. The American roulette wheel has another pocket with a double zero.

You will notice that the numbers are in red and black slots, which enables players to bet on red or black numbers. However, you will not focus on these properties if you want to place the odd/even bet.

In roulette there are inside and outside bets. For the purpose of explaining the odds/evens wager, we will not get into the inside bets. For the time being, it is enough to know that these refer to the bets which rely on the numbers and are placed on the numbered area of the betting board.

Outside bets are located outside the numbered board. They include odds/evens, red/black, low/high, dozens and columns.  Each of these bets has a section on the betting layout.

Placing a Bet

Find a roulette game you wish to play and join the table. Wait for the betting time to start ticking and collect the chips you wish to wager.

Place them on the ODD or EVEN section on the betting table. Your bet will be acknowledged. If an odd number is a winning number and you’ve wagered on ODD, your bet will be paid at 1:1 odds. The same applies to evens.
